The club and creation of a golf course was first proposed on the 26th April 1894 at a meeting held in the Public Hall, Auchenblae.
The meeting was attended by Messers R I Crabb, A B Harris, Wm Henderson and A U Simpson. The first meeting of the golf club committee was held on the 1st May 1894 at which Mr Harris undertook to draw up rules for the club and a special bye law regarding playing over the Myreside Road. It was voted that the name of the club be The Auchenblae Golf Club and Mr Gainwell of Drumtochty be asked to be the President of the club for the year; Mr Harris to be Captain.
It was also agreed that the subscription be as follows: Ordinary Member Single 5 Shillings, Double 7 Shillings and sixpence, Family 10 Shillings.
In 1994 the club celebrated its Centenary with a number of special events being held; an Invitational Fourball, an Associates Day, the Auchenblae Masters, Pairs Shoot outs in various formats along with the normal club competitions but the highlights was the Pro Am held on Sunday 26th June, where 9 local professionals teamed up with members who had qualified. The nine teams were named after the original 8 committee members and the ninth after the club.
2019 saw the club mark its 125th anniversary with a series of special events throughout the year, including a unique challenge event where members teed off from unusual locations to different greens, providing an entirely different experience to what members are used to.
The club continues to thrive to the present day, with an active commitee that kindly volunteers their time to ensure the smooth running of the club and fixtures for the benefit of its members.
An Auchenblae GC WhatsApp group has been formed for members who have WhatsApp on their smartphones.
The aim of the group is to help arrange matches in the knockout tournaments and fixing up playing partners for pairs competitions, Friday Stroke Play League matches, and Saturday medals.
New members looking for a partner to help submit scorecards for their initial handicap might also find this facility useful.
The WhatsApp group is administered by Tim Thomson and he would be delighted to hear from any member, male or female, wishing to be added to the group.
Tim can be contacted on 07726 005003
